How To Clean A Leather Couch: Erasing The Toughest Stains
Couches are dainty furniture pieces, up until they are marred with dirt and stains. These things make seats look shabby and unmaintained, even affecting the appearance of the surrounding environment.
Fortunately, cleaning a leather couch is quite simple, and some of the toughest stains can be removed with household items.
The most basic way of cleaning a couch is by washing it with soap and water. Lint, dirt and minor stains are normally cleared off by normal washing. Before and after rinsing off the soap, wipe the couch with a clean cloth. Its sheen should be restored, thereafter.
For water stains, scrub them with a damp cloth. It should remove them after a few wipes. Make sure that the cloth isn’t soaking wet, otherwise it could cause more stains to appear.
Ink, blood and other tough-to-remove stains on a leather lane sectional require a little concoction of household products. Mix some baking soda with a cup of water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution, then rub it on the stains. Pretty soon, the unsightly markings will disappear.
An alternative to the baking soda solution is a mixture of cornstarch or talcum powder and water. It should have the same cleaning power as the previous solution. If all else fails, you can purchase a leather cleaning solution from the hardware. Although a little pricey, these cleaning solutions are formulated to remove even the toughest stains.
Even when the couch or sectional isn’t dirty, make it a point to clean it monthly. It will prevent the buildup of dust and dirt, thus preserving your couch’s elegant appearance.
